My name is Paul Bowlin and I have been playing guitar for 16 years. As a little kid, I always enjoyed singing along to the Beatles, or dancing when the "guitar lady" would perform an acoustic set at a couple of my early birthdays. I found that I was truly interested in learning how to play the guitar at age 12, when I first heard Metallica's "One." I became impassioned and highly motivated to learn how to shred with the guitar after listening to more virtuoso guitar players, which only fueled my fire to learn more as I became an adult. Today, I am in a local band called "The Bad Saints," and I have written and recorded my first original song. But, teaching is by far and away my biggest focus as a guitarist. Whether you're an advanced guitarist, or are someone who has never played the instrument, if you have a true willingness to learn and play, I will do all that I can to help you reach your highest level!

Teaching Approach

Why Choose Me

Versatility

Experienced in Teaching Multiple play styles

I maintain versatility not only in my own guitar playing, but also within the varieties of subjects I am able to teach students of any level. Examples of different play styles and technical elements I teach include: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Alternate Picking/using a pick, Finger Style, Improvised guitar soloing, Shred Techniques (such as finger tapping, legato, bends, tremelo picking etc.), difficult chord shapes (including major and minor 7ths, bar chords, add9, 6s etc.), various scales/modes, and more.

On top of that, my music taste and range is well versed. Whether it's Taylor Swift or Ozzy Osbourne, the genre of music of which you would like to learn is entirely up to the student!

Experience

A Well Rounded Professional

My journey has taken me from student, to campfire hero, to open mic performer, to being a pro, which includes teaching guitar, recording original music, and playing in a band. Having taught a wide range of ages and skillsets in guitar students has also helped me become very well rounded in articulating my curriculum.

Honest Assessment

Build up from your foundation

I pride myself on treating people as people. Regardless of age or skillset, I aim to provide a fun environment that is still suitable for learning. Criticism will always be constructive, as I truly believe it is best to learn from your mistakes.
